Djokovic & Djordje, Serbian’s dynamic photography duo
In the picturesque town of Valjevo, Serbia, two young men with similar names, both students of the same school, share a love for photography, beards, the “Partizan” club, and the honor of bearing one of the most illustrious Serbian surnames. Meet DJokovic and DJordje, individuals who, despite their shared names, embarked on a joint venture driven by their passion for capturing life’s moments through the lens.
A Chance Meeting and the Birth of a Business
DJordje Sr. recalls, “We officially met at a wedding in 2014,” but the idea for their joint business began when people started congratulating him on the birth of his daughter after seeing a photo submitted by DJokovic in a contest. This chance meeting sparked the concept of merging their photography styles to offer a complete service.
Blending Different Photographic Sensibilities
DJordje Jr. emphasizes their spontaneity, saying, “I think spontaneity is what defines us individually.” While DJordje Jr. captures broader scenes with a wide lens, DJordje Sr. focuses on details. Despite their distinct styles, they combine their perspectives into a cohesive narrative that makes sense.
The Impact of Weather and Circumstances
Weather doesn’t deter them; instead, people play a significant role in shaping their photography. “Bad weather doesn’t bother us. The quality of the photos depends on people and their interaction,” says DJordje Jr.
Beyond the Click: The Unseen Work
Their job extends far beyond the event itself. “People are often under the misconception that our job ends at the event, but it actually starts when we come home with the photos,” says DJordje Jr. They spend days sorting through thousands of shots, selecting and editing to present a curated collection to the newlyweds.

Photography in the Social Media Era
While social media has contributed to their visibility, word of mouth remains the most reliable source for new engagements. They acknowledge the role of social networks in allowing people to verify their work, especially for clients outside Valjevo.
Seeking Unexplored Locations
Despite the challenge of finding untouched locations in Valjevo, their goal is to expand their photography beyond the town. “Our aim is to venture out as much as possible from Valjevo,” states DJordje Jr.
The Essence of Each Wedding
For them, every wedding is unique. “We never approach any wedding lightly,” emphasizes DJokovic. Recognizing that each wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event for the couple, they aim to deliver photos that evoke emotions even a decade later.
Challenges and Anecdotes
Reflecting on challenges, DJordje Sr. recalls a solo mishap with a memory card during a wedding. However, as a team, they ensure such incidents are covered. They find fulfillment in clients revisiting their wedding day through tears and laughter while scrolling through their photos.
Developing an Eye for Detail
Their keen eye for detail, a skill they both possess, has evolved over time. DJordje Sr. attributes his attention to detail to spending time in nature, observing creatures, and developing an innate sense of observation.
Rise of Professional Photography
With the surge in digital photography and Western trends, the past decade has witnessed significant changes in the photography industry. The duo believes healthy competition is beneficial, pushing them to continually improve and avoid stagnation.
DJokovic and DJordje: The Names Behind the Lens
As for the question of who is DJokovic and who is DJordje in their business name, DJordje Jr. humorously mentions, “That’s a question many ask, and we switch roles.”
